Vigilance urged after four children die in parked vehicles

Four children have died in hot automobiles in a twoweek period, and the Texas Department of State Health Services is urging vigilance. The deaths surpass the three hot car deaths recorded in all of 2024 in Texas.

First case of West Nile in state reported

The first case of West Nile illness in Texas this year has been reported by the Department of State Health Services in a resident of Brazos County.West Nile is transmitted by mosquitoes and 80% of people exposed do not get sick.

Castillo is chosen as PPW Young Careerist

Teresa Castillo has been chosen as the Young Careerist of the Month by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club.She is commercial lending assistant at Interstate Bank. She and her husband, Felix, have four children, Felix Jr., Jaime, Ricardo and Orlando.
