Lunch and Learn seminar set at OGH Ochiltree General Hospital will host a free Lunch and Learn seminar on Thursday, Nov. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center at 1200 SW 15th Avenue. Dr. Jennifer McGaughy will present a program titled “Viruses vs. Bacteria: The Ultimate Showdown.

Another dry, hot October for most of Texas

This month is shaping up to be a repeat of last October, with much of the state staying both drier and warmer than average, according to Dr. Mark Wentzel, hydrologist with the Texas Water Development Board.

The Texas Department of State Health Services is calling for increased awareness among health professionals and the public about the New World screwworm. This parasitic fly can threaten the health of both animals and humans.

Friendship Quilt Guild presents 12 quilts to local veterans on Oct. 16

The Friendship Quilt Guild held its annual Quilt of Valor Presentation on Oct. 16 at Community Worship Center.The guild recognized 12 veterans, and presented two additional quilts to veterans who could not attend the program.
