At the end of the filing period last Friday, no new candidates filed leaving two of the three elections will just as many candidates as there are positions up for election.Only the Perryton City Council will have a contested race in the May 2 general election.

The Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Center held their Mardi Gras celebration on Tuesday evening. Members got together to enjoy a meal of shrimp with remoulade sauce, Cajun white beans, corn bread, Jambalaya with chicken and sausage, and bread pudding.

Chamber banquet is this Thursday

The Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet and silent auction on Thursday, Feb. 19, at Brokenhorn Steakhouse at 520 SE 24th.The doors will open at 5 p.m. for patrons to bid on numerous silent auction items. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m.

City’s sales tax payment for month up 8.6%

The City of Perryton saw its February sales tax payment increase substantially over last February.The city received a payment of $337,028, up 8.6% from last February. Its year to date payments of $566,400 are also up, 8%.
