Perryton Lions Club members got together last Saturday morning to get fireworks unloaded and fuses installed in anticipation of their annual fireworks show coming up this Friday, the Fourth of July, at Wolf Creek Park. The annual fireworks display will begin just after dusk, about 9:30-9:45 p.m.

In generations past, it was an admitted, frequently-discussed diversion. “Peoplewatching” was a pastime with which we could all identify. Many conversations began with, “You won’t believe what I saw the other day,” or other similar expressions.

State audit finds major lapses in jail systems

A recent audit of the agency in charge of overseeing the state’s county jails faulted the Texas Commission on Jail Standards for failing to consistently investigate prisoner complaints, maintain accurate records or complete legally required inspections, theT exas Standard reported.

Good receives Jones Fellowship Award

Local attorney Keith Good was named as the recipient of the Perryton Lions Club’s Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.Good received the award at a recent Lions Club meeting. The award was presented by past District Governor Henry Wyckoff.
