Future basketball superstars got prepared for more drills and games during the Perryton Ranger Basketball Camp earlier this week.

Babe Ruth hit his first major league home run on May 6, 1915. He was playing for the Boston Red Sox at the time. “The Sultan of Swat” went on to smash 714 round-trippers before he retired, as a New York Yankee, in 1935.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS Four Perryton High School powerlifters competed in the National Meet in Orlando, FL, earning three national championships and one runner-up. Pictured, from left, are runner-up Jonathan Becerril, and national champions Christian Laja, Alejandra Salas and Saleen Nyman. All four were invited to join Team USA for the world championships in Istanbul, Turkey.

Powerlifters bring home three championships from national meet

Four Perryton power-lifters traveled to the National Powerlifting Meet, and brought home three championships and a national runner-up. The meet was held in Orlando, FL. Saleen Nyman, took first place in her weight class with a 645 pound total.

Oil Patch Golf Tourney deadline looming this month for July event

The deadline for entrants and sponsors for the 48 th annual Oil Patch Golf Tournament are coming up soon. The deadline to enter as a player or to be a sponsor for the tournament is set for Friday, June 24.

Taylor Beyea was always bound for success. She was a National Merit Scholar at graduation from Perryton High School, but that seemed like it would be the least of her recognitions with the bright future that laid ahead of her. A few short years later, we can see that will be the case.
