United Way tops 28%

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2026 campaign continues to add donations, and is now at 28% of its $98,000 goal, with $27,553 in donations so far.Six businesses joined the 100% Companies list, meaning every employee contributed to United Way, bringing the total to seven.

PISD board covers several topics

The Perryton ISD board met on Monday, October 20, taking care of several items of business The meeting opened with the superintendent’s report. Supt. Greg Brown began by commending the success of the five-year reunion.

During the annual awards ceremony for Ochiltree County 4-H at the Expo Center on Tuesday evening, awards were presented for Friends of 4-H for individuals and businesses that go above and beyond to support 4-H programs with donations of time and material resources.
Students participating in Ochiltree County 4-H’s Foods Project got together last Thursday to make elote, or Mexican street corn. Eight of the students taking part in the project will be traveling to District competition in Canyon on Oct. 27. Agency raising awareness of screwworm threat

The Texas Department of State Health Services is calling for increased awareness among health professionals and the public about the New World screwworm. This parasitic fly can threaten the health of both animals and humans.

Commissioners okay donations for library’s 100th birthday

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved the receipt of a $500 grant from the hotel-motel tax, as well as a $100 donation, to use for Perry Memorial Library.

County 4-H holds annual awards presentation

Ochiltree County 4-H presented its annual awards celebration at the Ochiltree County Expo Center on Tuesday, Oct. 14.Ochiltree County Judge Charles Kelly presented the Gold Star Award to Kyle Oquin.The Gold Star Award is the highest county award available to 4-H members.
