PARSPA sets May meetingThe Perryton Area Retired School Personnel Association (PARSPA) will meet Monday, May 4, at the Senior Citizens Center. The meeting will begin at noon and everyone is invited to eat lunch at the SCC at 11:30 a.m.

Jennie Junes enjoys program on plants

The Jennie June Club met Wednesday, April 8 at Perry Memorial Library.The program was given by Sharla Kile on Ranger Roots, 110 E. Santa Fe. She said they are opening a new spot on Main Street, but it won’t be ready for a while. It is open 9:30-5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Smokable hemp ban temporarily blocked

A ban on the sale of natural smokeable hemp products has been blocked, possibly until the end of April, by a Travis County district judge. A court hearing is set for this week.

Museum partners with Smithsonian for new exhibit

Perryton’s Museum of the Plains will host a special temporary exhibit created in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institution, exploring the importance of the local environment, beginning next month.The “Habitat” exhibition will run from May 1 to Dec. 1, 2027 at the museum.

SWCD to mark stewardship week

Ochiltree Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has partnered with Ochiltree County and other conservation organizations to highlight Soil and Water Stewardship Week and the importance of voluntary land stewardship in Texas.

Ochiltree County Judge Charles E. Kelly signed a proclamation on Tuesday morning commemorating this year’s Soil and Water Stewardship Week, April 25 through May 3, recognizing the importance of preserving and conserving healthy soil, clean water, and natural habitats in Ochiltree County.
