Carl and Nona Cowan will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 26. The couple were married Aug. 29, 1966 in Clayton, NM, and have lived in Perryton for 56 years. They have two daughters, Cindy Cowan and Connie Cowan, and two grandchildren, Calli Romjue and Mason Romjue. A come and go celebration is planned on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 5-8 p.m. at 901 S. Drake. The couple requests no gifts, please. Preston and Darlene Prater, who are celebrating their 57th anniversary, will also be in attendance.

Perryton residents got treated to a special program by Amarillo’s Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at the Museum of the Plains. Volunteers at the center spoke to a roomful of kids, parents, and animal lovers about the work the center does caring for injured animals before releasing them back into the wild. They also brought a number of tame ambassador animals, including an opossum, a skunk, a Texas tortoise, and a corn snake.
