Memorial services for James T. Wright of Perryton will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Perryton.

Mr. Wright passed away on Dec. 8, 2023 at the age of 88.

J.T. was a lifelong farmer in Ochiltree County, born to Walter Ray Wright and Elsie Dorine Wright on March 6, 1935.

He attended Perryton schools, graduating from Perryton High school in 1953. He attended Panhandle A&M University and earned a bachelor of science degree in agronomy.

He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Perryton, and his hobbies were following and tracking the commodities markets and fishing.

J.T. very graciously specified that his scholarship be designated for an area of study having pressing need for scholarship. The James T. Wright Endowed Scholarship is the first scholarship in the history of Wayland College to be designated for students majoring in psychology.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorine Holdeman; and nephew, Gary Spoonemore.

J.T. is survived by his sister, Euella Spoonemore of Leander; nieces Nina Rader of Noblesville, Indiana and Deborah Scott of Chickasha, Oklahoma.
