The Rangers traveled to Dumas Friday night, but came up empty, as the Demons notched a 30-0 victory.

The Ranger defense played well, but the Demon offense made big plays at key times, and their defense kept the Rangers in check throughout most of the game. A strong second quarter also propelled Dumas to the win.

Dumas were on offense first to open the game. The made a few good gains, but on third down a pass from quarterback Spencer Williams to Louis Ortiz was caught out of bounds and the Demons were forced to punt.

The Rangers took the ball at their own 17 yard line and were making gains down the field, including a 13 yard pass from Abraham Hernandez to Isaac Gabriel, and several runs by Jahir Romero. But the Rangers fumbled the ball, and the Demons took over.

Dumas mounted a long drive but despite driving down the field to the Ranger 11 yard line, Perryton’s defense and the Demons had to settle for a field goal with 3:26 left in the first period. The score was 3-0 going into the second quarter.

The Demons cashed in on a drive that began at the end of the first quarter. Williams completed 15 yard and 11 yard passes to Juan Romero to set them up at the Ranger 14 yard line. Then Williams ran the ball in from the there for the score. The extra point was good, and their lead was 10-0 with 10:36 left in the first half.

Unfortunately, on their first play, the Rangers fumbled the ball at their own 23 yard line. In two plays Williams took the ball in again, this time from the 14 yard line. The extra point was no good, but they extended their advantage to 16-0.

The Rangers drive stalled at their own 33 yard line, and they punted again. Dumas had a nice drive going, marching from their own 29 yard line to the Ranger 8 yard line. But the Rangers stepped it up, and Pablo Perez snagged Williams’ pass in the end zone to stop the Demons’ drive.

But the Rangers couldn’t get anywhere, starting at their own 2 yard line, and punted. The Demons then added 7 more on a 11 yard scamper by Williams into the end zone with 33 seconds left in the first half. The extra point was good, and Dumas went into the locker room with a 23-0 lead.

Perryton was up first in the second half but went three and out. Dumas started at the Ranger 30 yard line and in two plays, a 13 yard run by Williams and a 17 yard pass caught by Victor Chavez saw the Demons in the end zone again. The extra point was good and they took a 30-0 lead.

The Rangers had a nice drive going, taking the ball all the way to the Dumas 5 yard line, but couldn’t punch it in on fourth down.

Neither team could get much going in the fourth quarter. The Demons fumbled early in the quarter, but the Rangers couldn’t convert it into points, despite a 42 yard run by Hernandez to set them up at the 50 yard line. The Rangers and Demons traded possessions until time ran out.
