Mary Vijjeswarapu
Mary Kamala Vijjeswarapu, 79, died Nov. 26, 2025.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Heart Cemetery in Booker. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
She was born Oct. 18, 1946 in Unikili, India. She earned a bachelor of science degree in biology and chemistry, and a master of arts degree in English from Andhra University. She was a lecturer at Andhra Christian College.
In 1984, she moved to the United States, and earned a master of science degree in biology and chemistry from West Texas State University. She worked at Texas Tech University in Amarillo as a research associate before moving to Houston in 1988. She then served as a research associate at UT MD Anderson Cancer Cancer Center, contributing to several published research studies. She then worked at Baylor College of Medicine until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sreenivasa Rao and Aliceamma Vijjeswarapu; and two brothers, Dr. V.S. Christopher and Diva Kumar Vijjeswarapu.
She is survived by two brothers, Winston Vije of Houston and Daniel Vijjeswarapu of San Antonio.
