Patricia was born on September 18, 1934 in O’Donnell, Texas to Lester Etter and Vera Askew Etter. She was a tomboy through and through. Pat was one of the most curious, intelligent and broad-minded individuals one could ever have the pleasure of meeting. An incredible listener in which no subject was off the table, she possessed an uncanny ability to make anyone she encountered the center of conversation. She could learn someone’s life story in about thirty minutes.
Pat absolutely loved to travel and couldn’t wait to hit the road, map in one hand and itinerary in the other. She and husband Hollis, accompanied by various friends and family, traveled the entire country from Maine to California and many parts in between.
Pat married her high school sweetheart, Hollis, in Amarillo, on August 8, 1952. They loved their family unconditionally, and it showed in every action they ever took.
She took immense pride in her 29-year career at Perryton Feeders, Inc., but her greatest joy came from the achievements of her two sons.
Once asked, “How do you wish to be remembered?” She replied, “As an honest, fun-loving person.” She then added, “Always be available, if possible, make a pot of coffee, and be ready to visit. You can finish sweeping later!”
Pat is survived by her husband, Hollis, of Perryton; two sons, Clarke Swinney and wife, Terrie of Perryton, and Cary Swinney and wife Bene’, of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Alison Latimer of Denver, Colorado, and Logan Cornett, also of Denver, Colorado; two grandsons, Taylor Swinney of Atlanta, Georgia, and Parker Swinney of Perryton; three great grandsons, Milo Cornett, Zayden Latimer, and Dara Swinney; and one sister, Polly Sumrow and husband Bob, of Amarillo.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Peggy Dickson.
The family requests memorials be to one’s favorite charity.
