POPULAR MECHANICS MURAL IN PROGRESS

Local mural painter Mario Enriquez is hard at work creating a new painting at the corner of Main Street and 9th Avenue. The mural depicts a scene from the cover of “Popular Mechanics” magazine in 1920, as buildings and homes from old Ochiltree were moved by tractor to the current site of Perryton.

Hotel-motel applications due June 20

Organizations interested in applying for City of Perryton hotel-motel occupancy tax funds have just around a week to do so.Applications are due back on Friday, June 20, at 5 p.m. to City Hall. They must be returned by then to be considered for funding for 2025-26.

Pickleball tournament scheduled for Friday Chase Your Dreams will host a pickleball tournament this Friday, June 13, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Perryton High School tennis courts. The tournament will be doubles only with divisions for beginners and advanced players.

City council okays several parks dept. grant projects

The Perryton City Council approved several items to improve local parks at its meeting Tuesday evening.The council approved an interlocal contract with the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission for project administration services for a $150,000 grant awarded to the city by Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Storms bring more moisture

Ochiltree County received more precipitation this week, primarily from a pair of thunderstorms, one last Wednesday night and the second on Monday evening.KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total from the two storms was .91 of an inch.
