Agency raising awareness of screwworm threat

The Texas Department of State Health Services is calling for increased awareness among health professionals and the public about the New World screwworm. This parasitic fly can threaten the health of both animals and humans.

To promote “If You See Something, Say Something” awareness, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding Texans of the iWatchTexasprogram — a critical resource anyone can use to report suspicious activity or behavior in their schools and communities.

Commissioners okay donations for library’s 100th birthday

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved the receipt of a $500 grant from the hotel-motel tax, as well as a $100 donation, to use for Perry Memorial Library.

County 4-H holds annual awards presentation

Ochiltree County 4-H presented its annual awards celebration at the Ochiltree County Expo Center on Tuesday, Oct. 14.Ochiltree County Judge Charles Kelly presented the Gold Star Award to Kyle Oquin.The Gold Star Award is the highest county award available to 4-H members.

United Way fund drive already off to good start

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2026 campaign is off to a good start, and has already raised 20% of its $98,000 goal.There is also one 100% Company, meaning every employee contributed to United Way. Perryton National Bank is the first on the list.
