Where are they now?...Jessica Koch Morin

Article Image Alt Text

The name Jessica Koch Morin brings fear to the minds of many a high school softball batter. She graduated from Perryton High School in 2007 but not before she helped secure Perryton’s only softball district title in memory. When she was not throwing the softball so fast that it resembled a tiny, yellow TicTac, she was an excellent student who graduated in the top of her class.

Morin took her softball talents to Seward County Community College for two years. After that, she decided to hang up her spikes and headed to Texas A&M University. In 2001, she graduated with a degree in English.

“In 2011, like today, English Lit was not a very lucrative degree for someone uninterested in teaching. As luck would have it, I met someone whose father grew concerned with my ‘maybe I will go to grad school’ plan and stepped in with a much better alternative,” she said.

The Declaration of Independence began as a letter to Britain’s King George to explain why the Continental Congress was interested in declaring independence from Great Britain. The writing of the declaration began on July 2 and the final wording was established on July 4.

“A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society”. -Billy Graham.

One day is not enough to honor how special fathers truly are because they are amazing every day of the year. I have been so blessed with the men in my life. My dad, Bob Dear, shaped my early years, an amazing step dad, Kenneth Parker, patiently guided me through the teen age crisis years, and Jerral opened his arms to welcome me into a new family when Perry and I began dating in college. He is the role model my husband has to follow. He is the reason I knew Perry was going to be a fantastic daddy. Perry, you are the man of my heart, the father of our children, and the very best Pa to Kason and Elizabeth. Thank you for being our rock and cheerleader. Happy Father’s Day to you all.
