OLD-FASHIONED GARDENING

After excavations at the Buried City on Wolf Creek revealed that Native Americans in the area had been farmers, Courson Archaeological Research Lab southeast of Perryton began a long-running experiment to grow and cultivate their own Indian Garden. The garden includes food that was actually grown in this area, including corn, squash, melons, and beans. Pictured helping cultivate the garden are volunteers with the lab, including Bonnie Buckley, in foreground, and in the background, from left, Griffin Brosowske, Haylee Cator, Kara Malaney, and Lisa Brosowske.
