MONITOR WELLS ADDED AROUND CITY

Work crews have been busy drilling new monitor wells around Perryton to check carbon tetrachloride levels. Five new well sites have been added to the previous 15. In 1989, carbon tetrachloride contamination was discovered around one of the city’s water wells. Cleanup efforts began in 1999, when the site was designated a Priority Federal Superfund site. The new monitor wells will allow for water to be tested more efficiently.
