The Jennie June Club met March 11 at Perry Memorial Library. Hostesses for the meeting were Janelle Cochran, Arlene Boxwell and Linda Paul.

The program on dolls was given by Emma Eldridge of Hardesty, OK, who was featured in an article, “Dollhouse on the Prairie” in the January 2016 issue of Oklahoma Living.

She has an extensive collection of around 500 dolls she has collected for the last 15-20 years. They are housed in two buildings on her property, a renovated chicken coop belonging to her grandparents and a storage building.

Eldridge gave a brief history of dolls, noting that dolls date back to ancient Greece and Rome. In America, dolls were important to children as families crossed the plains to new homes on the frontier.
