The Rangerette softball team continues to improve as the district season approached. They were able to play three games in the River Road Tournament, until the weather complicated matters. The Rettes picked up two wins while going 2-1 at the tournament.

The Rettes opened play against the Childress Lady Bobcats. Thursday’s game was close, with the teams trading runs in the first few innings. A late rally by the Lady Bobcats gave them the victory by the score of 9-6.

Cassidee Butler (1-6) pitched masterfully for the Rettes. Once again, she picked up the loss due to fielding errors by the Rangerettes. Butler allowed 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2 Lady Bobcats. She only allowed 3 earned runs in the loss. The Rettes committed 5 errors, which allowed for 6 unearned runs. Butler has been plagued by costly errors in the field while she is pitching this season. Her record should be 4-2 without the fielding errors.
