The Ranger basketball team entered the first round of the post-season playoffs as huge underdogs. The Rangers faced the Canyon Eagles in a bi-district game in Panhandle on Tuesday. Canyon was predicted to win this contest easily. The Rangers came to play and had a different idea. Perryton won the game with aggressive defense by the final score of 31-28.

The Rangers took the floor and set the tone for the game early. They challenged every Eagle shot, rebounded well, played tenacious defense and worked their own offense. Perryton rode their first quarter lead to the victory. Ryan Davis and Pablo Perez each scored 4 points in the first quarter to lead the Rangers. Brayden Klafka converted two free throws to round out the totals. Perryton led 10-4 at the end of the first quarter.

The teams traded buckets in the second quarter. Klafka carried the Rangers by scoring all 8 points in the period. He sank two deep three-point shots and a bucket going to the basket. The Eagles could only manage 9 points in the period to cut into the lead slightly. The Rangers were up by the score of 18-13 entering the intermission.
