Candidates for sheriff, tax assessor discuss issues

A full house was on hand for the candidate forum on Monday evening at Frank Phillips College Allen Campus, as candidates for Ochiltree County Sheriff and Ochiltree County Tax Assessor-Collector discussed the issues facing their offices.

Dr. Randy Skaggs served as moderator for the event, while media questions came from David Schwalk from KEYE, Mary Dudley from the Perryton Herald, and Chris Samples from KXDJ.

The forum began with the three candidates for sheriff: incumbent Sheriff Terry Bouchard, and challengers Randy Barnes and Tommy Hernandez.

Barnes introduced himself , emphasizing his youth in Perryton, his service with the sheriff’s department in Gunnison, CO, and his re turn to work in the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department in recent years.
