Slaughter rites held

Kenneth Roger Slaughter, 86, of Hugoton, KS, formerly of Perryton, died Jan. 16, 2020.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20, at First Baptist Church in Perryton with Rev. Richard Laverty officiating. Burial followed in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

He was born June 30, 1933 in Anthony, KS, and married Alma Jean “Jeannie” Miller on Feb. 21, 1957 in Perryton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55 and was a retired oilfield pumper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Florence (Cantwell) Slaughter; two brothers, Larry Slaughter and Robert Slaughter; and one sister, Connie Mills.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie, of Hugoton, KS; two sons, Kelly Slaughter of Hugoton, KS and Howard “Howie” Slaughter of Topeka, KS; one brother, Galen Slaughter of Dallas; one sister, Anita Price of Amarillo; and five grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 415 W. Eighth Ave., Suite 300, Amarillo TX 79101; or to one’s favorite charity.
