John Robert “Bob” Beagle, 88, of Perryton, died Jan. 7, 2020.

Services were held Friday, Jan. 10, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Stepp officiating. Burial was in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 11, 1931 at the family farm southeast of Arnett, OK. He graduated from Arnett High School, and joined the U.S. Army, serving in Korea from 1952-54. He married Regina Gray on Dec. 20, 1954. She died in 2015. He was a farmer and rancher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Martin and Erma (Bradley) Beagle; his wife, Regina; one sister, Demirita Pletcher; and three brothers, Chester Beagle, Joe Beagle and Quinten Beagle.

He is survived by one son, Gordon Beagle of Perryton; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Southside Baptist Church or one’s favorite charity.

Archers and Cowboys

There were famous actors galore in 1938’s classic “The Adventures of Robin Hood,” including Errol Flynn as Robin Hood, Olivia de Havilland as Maid Marian, Basil Rathbone as Sir Guy of Gisbourne, and Claude Rains as Prince John. But one of the stars is more difficult to recognize — Maid Marian’s horse eventually gained fame as cowboy star Roy Rogers’ horse Trigger.
