Tommy Meek joined the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service July 1 in a new agriculture and natural resources assistant agent position in Ochiltree County.

Brandon Dukes, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Amarillo, explained that two new assistant agent positions are being filled in District 1, the top 22 counties in the Panhandle, as a training program for future county agent positions. The other will be a family and community health position in Hemphill County.

“We are excited to bring Tommy on board,” Dukes said. “He has experience in both ranching and with youth, and after he gets some more production agriculture training working with Scott Strawn in Ochiltree County, he’ll be ready to lead a county program of his own.”
