William Edward Autrey, 81 of Elk City, OK, and formally of Canadian, went to live with Jesus on May 29, 2019.

Memorial service was held Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Canadian, with Rev. Matthew McCurley, pastor, and Emmett Autrey, William’s brother, officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

William was born Oct. 1, 1937 in Woodson. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elk City, OK and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Canadian.

William honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany in the early Sixties.

He was a very loving and caring husband, Dad, Paca and Great Paca. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed being with each and every one when he could. William and Mag both were loyal Canadian Wildcat fans and he recruited some of his brothers to support the Wildcats as well.

He loved to hunt, camp, snow ski and travel with friends and family. William loved to pilot planes. He will be missed, but we know that he is in Heaven and is singing and rejoicing with Mag.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie of nearly 60 years; and his parents, James Eugine Autrey and Susie Marie Autrey.

Survivors include his two daughters, Beverly and husband Rick Lucas of Houston, and Brenda and husband Glen Wolfe of Elk City, OK; siblings Earl Autrey, Emmett Autrey, Ronney Autrey, Golda Evers, and Linda Martin; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Faith Hospice of Elk City, 222 W. 3rd ST., Elk City OK 73644.
