Charles “Charlie” Dale Scott, 84, of Liberal, KS, died May 24, 2019.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, at 2 p.m. at Miller Mortuary Chapel, with burial in Tyrone Cemetery.

He was born March 3, 1935 on the family homestead near Turpin, OK. He married Dorothy Wyer on Feb. 5, 1955 in Clayton, NM. She died in 2018.

He graduated from Eureka High School in Baker, OK in 1953, and served in the U.S. Army from 1955-57. He worked in the oilfield, then opened his own repair shop, Scott’s Machine.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Glendon Dale and Georgie (Walters) Scott.

He is survived by three sons, Dennis Dean Scott of Amarillo, Danny Dale Scott of Oklahoma City, OK and Douglas Dudley Scott of Perryton; one daughter, Lisa Lynn Schaffer of Omaha, NE; one sister, Carolyn Kay Buck of Andover, KS; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials to Angels for Animals of Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, in care of Miller Mortuary, P.O. Box 826, Liberal, KS 67905.

Bird Vocabulary

Parrots, most famous of all talking birds, rarely acquire a vocabulary of more than 20 words, however Tymhoney Greys and African Greys have been know to carry vocabularies in excess of 100 words.

Dialing Code

The international telephone dialing code for Antarctica is 672. It is a toss up which is most strange - that anyone would want to call Antarctica or that it actually has a dialing code.
