The second round of the District 4-4A golf tournament was held in Amarillo on Thursday. The second round was also played at the Ross Rogers Wildhorse Course.

The Rangerettes entered play in second place as a team, with two golfers near the top of the leaderboard. The Rangers were in third place and needed to make up ground on Pampa and Dumas to advance as a team.

The Rangerettes improved their team score by 41 points in the second round. Perryton’s two-day total was 851. They finished second behind Dumas, who totaled 837. Borger was third as a team with a total of 876 strokes. Dalhart finished fourth with a 936-stroke total.

It was an exciting tournament for the Rangerettes. Outstanding individual play and solid team play allowed the team to advance on to the Regional Tournament. It is the first time the Rettes have advanced as a team in nearly two decades.
