Harper rites held

Donna Harper, 81, of Perryton, died March 18, 2019.

Graveside services were held Saturday, March 23, at 11 a.m. at Ochiltree Cemetery with Rev. Duce Cooper officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

She was born June 19, 1937 in Medicine Lodge, KS, and married Roy Harper May 22, 1955 in Protection, KS. She was a bookkeeper, and a member of the Methodist Church in Willmore, KS.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Clyde and Ruth Denney; and three siblings, Norma Starks, Pat Thomas and Larry Denney.

She is survived by two sons, Roy D. Harper, Jr., of Perryton and Steve N. Harper of Booker; one daughter, Pamela Jean Anderson of San Angelo; one sister, Linda Graybill of Coffeyville, KS; one brother, Lanny Denney of Coldwater, KS; 12 grandchildren; and 25 greatgrandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to one’s favorite charity.

Coke Beginnings

Coca-Cola was so named back in 1885 for its two ‘medicinal’ ingredients: extract of coca leaves and kola nuts. As for how much cocaine was originally in the formulation, it’s hard to know.
