The PHS tennis teams hit the courts at the Tascosa Invitational Tournament last week. The teams continue to improve in the early season. The Amarillo contest was the best outing of the year for both the boys team and the girls team.

The Rangerette doubles team of Denisse Melendez and Emily Marquez captured third place. They won their first match easily by the scores of 6-0 and 6-1. They lost in the semi-final match closely by the score of 7-6 and 6-3. The pair won the third-place match in exciting fashion by the score of 9-8.

Melendez and Marquez defended well and attacked strongly from the baseline and net. Melissa Ramos and Toni Johnson lost their matches by the scores of 3-8 and 4-8.
