Six PHS art students qualify for state contest in April

The regional Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) was held at Amarillo High School on Saturday, Feb.

23. At the regional contest, six Perryton High School art students qualified to move on to the State Event that will be held in San Marcos on April 27.

The PHS students that will participate in the VASE at San Marcos include Banelly Gonzalez, a senior in art 4, with her entry, an acrylic painting titled “Lulu.”

Also competing is Claire Manross, a sophomore in photography 1 with her photograph titled “Motherly Love.” Yoselin Anchonda, a sophomore in art 2, will compete with two art works, a watercolor painting titled “Promised Land,” and a charcoal drawing titled “Look Of Otherness.”

Elisa Granados, a senior in art 4, will compete with her pencil drawing titled “Problematic.” Senior Pedro Sarellano, taking art 4, will compete with his tape light box titled “Grandfather.”
