Rites held for former resident

Alta Maxine Gordon, 83, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Perryton, died Dec. 23, 2018 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital.

Services will be Saturday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. at Faith Tabernacle Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will be Monday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Corbett Funeral and Cremation Service in Oklahoma City.

She was born Sept. 22, 1935 in Perryton, and graduated from Liberal High School in 1952. She later graduated from Liberal Beauty College. She married Mervin LaRoe Gordon on April 30, 1955 in Liberal, KS and they made their home in Perryton. She worked as a cosmetologist for several years, then was a retail buyer for Gibson’s Discount Center. She and her husband later moved to Cedaredge, CO and then to Oklahoma in 2000. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abe Herman and Ellen Kalista (Sheppard) Janzen; two sons, Dennis Lee Gordon and Gary Douglas Gordon; and one granddaughter, Trystan Nikkole Gordon.

She is survived by her husband, Mervin, of the home; two sons, Glen Gordon of Yukon, OK and Greg Gordon of Oklahoma City; one sister, Patricia Young of Mead, OK; one brother, Herman “H.A.” Janzen of Wichita, KS; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
