Ludivina “Ludi” Pena Martin, 56, of Perryton died Oct. 4, 2018. Mass was held Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Cesar Gomez, assisted by Deacon Sergio Estrada, officiating. Burial will be in the Moscow, KS Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. She was born Aug. 26, 1962 in Chihuahua, Mexico, and married Tom Martin on Aug. 6, 1988 in Hugoton, KS. She graduated from St. Mary’s of the Plains College in Dodge City, KS, and received her master’s degree in education, counseling and school administration from West Texas A&M University. She began her teaching career at St. John’s Elementary in Hoisington, KS. She had worked for the Perryton Independent School District for around 20 years, and was the principal of the Top of Texas Accelerated Education Center. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Perryton Lions Club. She also served on the Panhandle Crisis Center board and was active in Leadership Perryton. She was involved with the Texas Panhandle Centers of Behavioral and Development Health, and had just finished her course work to become a certified nursing assistant. She was preceded in death by her father, Isaac Pena. She is survived by her husband, Tom, of Perryton; one son, Nathan Martin of Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter, Celia Turner of Amarillo; her mother, Elisandra Pena of Moscow, KS; and five brothers, Baltazar Pena of Garden City, KS, Octavio Pena of Hugoton, KS, Jose Luis Pena of Lincoln, NE, Cesar Pena of Sublette, KS andIsaac Pena, Jr. of Longmont, CO. The family suggests memorials to the Ranger Academic Enrichment Foundation, P.O. Box 179, Perryton; or to the Panhandle Crisis Center, P.O. Box 502, Perryton.
