Time is running out if you aren’t yet registered to vote for the Nov. 3 general election.
The last day to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 5.
Voter registration applications are available online on the Texas Secretary of State’s website, or from Ochiltree County Clerk Cassi Laxton’s office.
The deadline to request a ballot by mail is also approaching, which is Friday, Oct. 23.
To be eligible to vote by mail, voters must meet one of the following qualifications: they are age 65 or older; disabled, incarcerated or plan to be out of Ochiltree County during the entire early voting period and on Election Day.
In addition to national and state races on the ballot, two local races will also be decided.
With the resignation of Justice of the Peace Braden Karber after the March 3 primary election, the late vacancy allowed other candidates to file as independents.
There are three candidates in that race: Keith Dutcher, Bucky Goldsberry and Darlena Hardy.
The Perryton School Board postponed its May 2 trustee election to Nov. 3, amid concerns for the health of election workers.
There are two positions up for election on the school board, and five candidates.
They are Lane Haley, Ramon Vela, Shane Slover, Perla Gonzalez and Pete DeSantiago.
The school board election will be on the same ballot as the national, state and county races.
The early voting period has been extended to three weeks this year. It begins Oct. 13, and runs through Oct. 30.
Early voting will be conducted at the meeting room of Perry Memorial Library. Voters should use the entrance off Ash Street, just south of the main library entrance.
Early voting times are Oct. 13-16, Oct. 20-23 and Oct. 27-30, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Oct. 19 and Oct. 26, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Early voting will be open during the lunch hour each day.
On Election Day, Nov. 3, voting will be by precincts, with each site open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Those locations are Precinct 1, City Hall; Precinct 2, Expo Center; Precinct 3, Church of Christ; and Precinct 4, Victory Family Church.
