Perryton and Ochiltree County have had lots and lots of windy days this month, but every once in a while, the weather will work out right, and county residents will get treated to a few nice days of light breezes and warm temperatures. Four Texas counties among fastest growing in United States
Members of Leadership Perryton XXIII participated in Reality Day, a poverty simulation, last Wednesday, learning about some of the realities and challenges faced by low-income families. Participants in the simulation were given simple roles to play during the project, including newly unemployed people, homeless people, recipients of TANF funds, senior citizens on disability, and single parents. The task assigned to all was to provide basic necessities and shelter during the course of four 15-minute weeks.
