Rabies case is found in Perryton

The first positive case in a while was reported late last week by Dr. Randy Skaggs.The skunk was found roaming at 117 S. Indiana during the day.“This is our first case in a few years. Sporadic cases have been reported around the Panhandle this year,” Dr. Skaggs said.

Late-night storms bring moisture

A pair of late-night rainstorms last Thursday and Friday dropped more welcome precipitation on Ochiltree County.Mary Dudley, in the central part of Perryton, reported 2.70 inches of rain.Randy and Cami Skaggs, who live a mile southeast of Perryton, received 2.40 inches of rain.

Commissioners discuss roof repairs

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners discussed roof repairs at the Law Enforcement Center.The commissioners decided to accept bids for the roof repairs through the Texas Interlocal Purchasing System.

Workers from Bold Recreation are hard at work building the new playground at Murphy Park. The park’s old playground was destroyed in the tornado that tore through town two years ago. Workers and City of Perryton staff hope to have the playground completed and open for kids to play on soon
