Area receives another dose of rain this week

Perryton and Ochiltree County were treated to some more rain this week, courtesy of a short but intense rainstorm on Tuesday morning, along with a small thunderstorm early Wednesday morning.Dr. Emily White, who lives near Ochiltree General Hospital, received 2.50 inches of rain.

Commissioners approve SB8 funds and grant Monday

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved the certification of funds and adopted a special budget for Texas Senate Bill 8.

Gustavo Hernandez, a recent graduate of Perryton High School, was selected as an Outstanding Performer at the 2026 UIL Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest. Of the approximately 100,000 students participating in regional UIL music contests, only 2-3% earned the honor.
Frank Phillips College, Allen Campus hosted a pulled pork dinner fundraiser Tuesday evening for the Perryton Pathways scholarship program. Hungry diners had dine in, take out, and delivery options available, as well as a silent auction. Pictured are Phil and Lori Dollar picking up their meal from volunteer Misty Stockton. Pathways is open to PHS freshmen and eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
