Blood drive set at FPC Coffee Memorial Blood Center will hold a community blood drive on Tuesday, June 4, from 1-6 p.m. at Frank Phillips College, Allen Campus.

On May 15, 2024, the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department had outstanding warrants on the following people: Brenda Harjo, white female. No other personal information was available. Last known address was Perryton. There are two misdemeanor warrants for Harjo for issuance of bad checks.

The Skating Saint

Did you know there’s a patron saint of ice skating? Saint Lydwina, born in 1380 in the Netherlands, was paralyzed in an ice skating mishap as a child and spent most of the rest of her life in prayer, gaining fame as a healer. Because of the nature of her injury – she only broke a rib while skating but became almost fully paralyzed over time – some believe she may have been one of the first recorded people with multiple sclerosis.

PISD board hires new AD, head football coach

The Perryton School Board took care of several items, including hiring a new athletic director, at meetings on May 7 and May 13. At the May 13 meeting, the board unanimously approved hiring Josh Hernandez as the new athletic director and head football coach.

Commissioners approve weather system grant

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The commissioners approved a resolution for a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation to install a new Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the Perryton-Ochiltree County Airport.

PHS scholars recognized at Academic Awards

Perryton High School students were honored and recognized Monday evening for their academic achievements during the year at the Academic Awards Banquet held in the Rangerette Gym. Madelyn Schickedanz was announced as the valedictorian of the Class of 2024, with Carlos Hernandez as the salutatorian.
