Athletes in all sports were honored at the Perryton High School All Sports Awards Banquet on Monday evening.The event was hosted by the Perryton Lions Club in the Rangerette Gym at PHS.Emcee for the evening was athletic director and head football coach Josh Hernandez.

Ranger lifters take fifth at state, have one state champ

The Ranger powerlifting team took four lifters to the state meet, and notched one state champion.Angel Flores is the state champion for the second consecutive season. He also broke the squat record with 635 lbs., while weighing 147 pounds. He also beat the second place finisher by 50 lbs.

Rangers take second at regional meet; headed to state

The Rangers powerlifting team captured second place at the regional meet, and will send several to the state meet.“Our boys placed second as a team after a three way tie for first,” Coach Casey Arruda said. “It came to second place finishers to decide the tiebreaker.

PHS girls powerlifting advances 12 to state meet

The Perryton High School girls powerlifting team captured the regional championship for the 10th year in a row, and advanced 12 girls to state, and had 19 total medalists.

Rangers lose to Lobos 53-43 Friday

In a high scoring game, the Rangers came up short against Levelland, losing 53-43 last Friday night.The Rangers scored first in the game, on their second possession. They opened the drive with a 21 yard run by Kaiden Willis.

Liberty smacks Rangers, 56-14

The Lubbock Cooper Liberty Patriots blasted the Rangers, 56-14 at home last Friday night in their district opener.The loss brings the Rangers’ record to 3-4, and 0-1 in district. They will travel to Lubbock Estacado this Thursday.

Rangers thrash Harvesters, 49-35

The Rangers traveled to Pampa Friday night to take on the Harvesters. Although the game was tied at the half, Perryton pulled away to handily win 49-35.The Rangers had the opening possession, and went down the field to score in 13 plays.
