Rette powerlifters qualify for regionals

The Rangerette powerlifting team accomplished more than any other 4A squad in the state. Perryton had 34 girls qualify for the regional powerlifting meet, which was a larger number than anyone else in Texas. This total topped their total of last year, which was 26 lifters.

It was the first time since the 2012-13 season that the Rangerette basketball team had advanced in the playoffs. That team reached the regional tournament before being defeated by Stephenville on the campus of Texas Tech University.

The Ranger basketball team finished district play in a fury. They travelled to Canyon to face the district leading Eagles on Friday. The Rangers needed a win to secure the third place position in the final district standings.

The Rangerette basketball team entered the bi-district round of the playoffs against a very talented Lubbock Estacado Lady Matador team. The game was played early on Friday at Canyon Junior High with a supportive Rangerettte crowd. The game flowed back and forth throughout the first three quarters.

Rangers move into third place with two impressive wins

By winning two games which came down to the final buzzer in regulation and overtime, the Ranger basketball team climbed into third place in the district standings. It is a great place to be to secure a playoff berth, with only one game left in the district’s regular season.

PHS tennis back on court

After having their season abruptly end last March due to Covid, the PHS tennis teams were once again on the courts over the weekend. The teams competed in the Borger Invitational Meet on Saturday. Thirteen athletes attacked the nets for Perryton in the meet.

Powerlifters take home top honors

It was another road trip for the Perryton High School powerlifting teams on Saturday. The teams lifted in the Dumas Invitational meet and had success. The Rangerettes lifted to first place and the Rangers took second place. Coach Casey Arruda discussed the meet.

PJH 7 th Grade Girls “B” Basketball

The Perryton Junior High seventh grade girls’ “B” team hosted the Pampa seventh grade “B” team on Feb. 2, picking up a big 29-17 win. Perryton led 4-0 after the first period, and a strong second quarter saw them increase that lead to 21-8 going into the half.

PJH 8 th Grade Girls “B” Basketball

The PJH eighth grade girls “B” team notched a big 31-15 victory over Pampa on Feb. 2 at home. After the first quarter, Perryton was ahead 6-0, and by the half, they led 17-9. Perryton scored 6 more points, to Pampa’s 4, in the third quarter, to take a 23-13 lead going into the final period.
