Pickleball may not yet be an Olympic sport, but it does have plenty of enthusiasts. Pickleball players in Ochiltree County can find a game at the Perryton Activity Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. and on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m.

FUTURE GOLF GREATS—The City of Perryton hosted a golf camp for youth in Perryton at the Perryton Municipal Golf Course last week.

Ochiltree 4-H members compete at state round up

Ochiltree 4-H members participated in the Texas State 4-H Round Up competitions in College Station. The event was held on the Texas A&M University Campus on June 7-10. Over 2,000 4-H members from across the state represented clubs from almost every county in Texas.

The winning team of the Perryton Golf Club Thursday night scramble took the prize with a score of 30. Team members were Rene Hernandez, Dustin Bruner, Oscar Valenzuela and Matt Appelhans.

Thursday golf scramble team winners listed

The winning team in the Perryton Golf Club’s Thursday night scramble on May 6 posted a score of 30. There was a two way shoot out for first place. Team members were Rene Hernandez, Rodrigo Ramos, Bryan Vernor, Justin Manross and Danny Lopez. Manross also hit to 10 feet.

Coach Casey Arruda is building a dynasty, part 2

When we left off in the last article, Coach Casey Arruda was discussing the powerlifting dynasty created at Perryton High School. The program is recognized around the state as being top-notch. PHS powerlifting is constantly represented at the state meet year in and year out.
