Robert Willis Wright, 80, of Perryton, ran home to meet the Lord face to face on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023.
Funeral services will be held Thursday Jan. 4, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Perryton, officiated by Brother Pat Ray. Burial will follow at Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton.
Mr. Wright was born on April 18, 1943, in Beaver, Oklahoma to Gordon Willis Wright and Anna Mae Klapp. He obtained his master’s degree in biology from West Texas State University. He married his wife, Paula Karen Montgomery, on August 27, 1966, in Perryton.
He taught high school biology a few years in Canyon, and also taught high school science in Perryton in 1986. His lifelong occupation, passed down from his father, was farming. He was recipient of the Farmer of the Year award in 1995 for Ochiltree County. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Perryton, where he served as a deacon.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his wife; and his parents.
Mr. Wright is survived by one son, Monte Wright and wife Donna, of Perryton; one daughter, Melanni Schollenbarger and husband, Jeff, of Perryton; one sister, Carol Story, of Wilmore, Kentucky; two grandsons,Andrew Wright of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Jacob Schollenbarger of Lakewood, Colorado; and two granddaughters, Kylie Garr of Lewisville, Texas, and Lanie Schollenbarger of Arvada, Colorado.
The family requests memorials be to Ochiltree General Hospital Hospice, 3019 Main, Perryton, Texas, 79070; the Gideon’s International, P. O. Box 254, Perryton, Texas; or to the Tornado Relief Fund of Perryton, in care of First Baptist Church, 415 S. Baylor, Perryton, Texas.
