Rennie Cowan, 74, of Perryton, Texas, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2023 in Perryton.
Viewing will be Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Perryton, officiated by Rev. Richard Laverty. Burial will follow in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton.
Mrs. Cowan was born on March 16, 1949 in Shattuck, OK to Robby Lee Kile and Blanche Eileen Holdeman. She married her husband, Alvin Cowan, Jr. on Dec. 16, 1968 in Perryton, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Perryton. Mrs. Cowan was a devoted wife, mother and ma to countless kids of all ages.
She never met a stranger and went out of her way to make others feel wanted and included. Mrs. Cowan had a servant’s heart, she was selfless always concerned about others she never sought attention or recognition for her kindness and generosity.
Mr. and Mrs. Cowan spent the better part of the past 30 plus years volunteering in the nursery, teaching sunday school classes from kindergarten to second grade and eventually the church librarian for the past 20 plus years. Mrs. Cowan loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed watching her grandkids participate in their many activities.
Mrs. Cowan is survived by her husband; two daughters, Bendi Mabbitt of Perryton, and Shelly McCutchen of Amarillo; two sons, Kile Cowan and Kelly Cowan, both of Perryton; three brothers, Bobby Kile of Perryton, Jerry Kile of Amarillo, and Jack Kile of Lubbock; two sisters, Debbie Logan of Perryton, and Rita Leatherman of Amarillo; six granddaughters, Ashleigh Sanders, Courtney Morris, Kilee Cowan, Chambrey McCutchen, Ella Cowan and Brenlee McCutchen; and five grandsons, Daniel Mabbitt, Christian Cowan, Stephen Cowan, Bo Cowan, and Hadlee Cowan; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cowan was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Daryl Kile; and one nephew, Robby Kile.
The family requests memorials be to the Ochiltree General Hospital Hospice, 3019 Main, Perryton.
