A BAD YEAR FOR WHEAT In a year that brought extreme drought followed by extreme rainfall, it was hard for area wheat producers to catch a break. The 2022-23 wheat harvest in Ochiltree County left a lot to be desired, with yields significantly below average.
According to Scott Strawn, Ochiltree County Extension agent, the extreme drought through most of the season never gave dryland fields a chance to grow, while the extremely heavy rainfall in the last couple of months delayed the harvest for almost a month.
