Leona Armstrong
Leona Chlotee Bridges Armstrong, 96, of Perryton, died March 29, 2023.
Graveside services were held Saturday, April 1, at Ochiltree Cemetery, with a memorial service following at First Baptist Church in Spearman with Rev. Byron Potter officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
She was born March 27, 1929 in Willis, OK, and married Frank Armstrong Nov. 6, 1949 in Borger. They moved to Perryton in 1959, where she worked at the Perryton ISD for 18 years.
She attended People’s Chapel, and was later a member of Southside Baptist Church in Perryton. After moving to Hansford Manor in 2021 she became a member of First Baptist Church in Spearman. She was also a volunteer for the Ochiltree County Senior Citizen Center for many years.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Ann Smith; her husband, Frank; her parents, Oscar Wright and Eathel (Arnold) Bridges; one brother, Ross Bridges; and two sisters, Anita Harris and Zelda Hicks.
She is survived by one son, Frank Hugh Armstrong of Lubbock; two daughters, Lisa Pipkin of Spearman and Teresa Freeman of Salida, CO; one brother, Marvin Bridges of Fairfield, CA; one sister, LaWanda Walker of Durant, OK; three grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
