Bernarda Olivarez
Bernarda Rita Olivarez, 57, of Waka, died Nov., 25, 2022, Memorial services were held Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the church with Father Anthony Yanamala officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
She was born May 23, 1965 in Rio Grande City, and married Joe Olivarez on Dec. 5, 1984 in Spearman.
She volunteered with the Walk to Emmaus at the Waka Christian Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guillermo and Aurora (Bazan) Vela; one sister, Delores Moreno; and one brother, Guillermo Vela, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; one daughter, Maria Vela of Spearman; two sons, Reuben Olivarez of Oklahoma City, OK and David Olivarez of San Jose, CA; one brother, Ted Vela of Gruver; six sisters, Barbara Rojas, Ciria Vela and Teresa Vela, all of Spearman, Criselda Vela of LosAngeles, CA, Mary Vela of Dumas and Leticia Salazar of Gruver; and eight grandchildren.
