Davy Lee Gurley, 73, of Perryton, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022 in Perryton.
Viewing will be Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022 from l p.m. until 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, with a family visitation to be held on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Perryton. Burial will follow in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton.
Mr. Gurley was born on May 17, 1949 to Eldon Gurley and Faye Jean Burger Gurley in Perryton. He attended Perryton High School and graduated in 1967. He attended college and received his bachelor’s degree in 1971. He married Vicki Gaines on July 22, 1972 in Wheeler.
A small business owner and a farmer, Davy loved motorcycles, cars, firearms and especially his family. He had a giving heart, spending many years volunteering with the Confederate Air Force, the Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club, and various methods of firearms instruction both for youth and adults. He was a lifetime resident of the area.
Mr. Gurley is survived by his wife; two sons, Rodney Gurley and wife, Ameri, of Lubbock, and Jay Gurley of Albuquerque, NM; one grandson, Casey Gurley of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Hannah Gurley and Evelyn Jean Gurley, both of Lubbock; two sisters, Peggy Reynard and husband, Dana, and Patty Hawkins and husband, Tim; one brother, Danny Gurley and wife, Franki; and his mother, Faye Jean Gurley of Perryton.
Mr. Gurley was preceded in death by his father; one son, Davy Lee Gurley, Jr.; and his grandparents.
