Rites held for former resident

Jeanette Lee Stump, 104, of McPherson, KS, died May 4, 2022, at The Cedars in McPherson.

Services were held., Monday, May 9, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A private burial was in Ochiltree Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 13, 1918 in Gibbon, OK, and graduated from Perryton High School. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University and graduated from McPherson College in 1959 with a degree in education.

She married Harley H. Stump on Aug. 23, 1937 in Thomas, OK. He died in 1996. She moved to McPherson in 1957, and was a fifth grade teacher, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Church of the Brethren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Nelson E. Stump, her parents, Jerry and Dorothy (Aves) Slaughter; one brother, Dean Slaughter; and one sister, Jerrille Slaughter.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Harl Stump of Hays, KS; to grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
