Judith Morris Depew

Judith Gayle Morris Depew, 78, of Beaver County, OK, passed from this world and into the presence of her Savior on April 20, 2022 in Perryton.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church in Beaver, OK, with Rev. Rick Main officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton.

Mrs. Morris was born to Leon Blum Morris and Winifred Colean (Gordon) Morris on July 30, 1943 in Perryton. Judith was raised in the Anthony community in Beaver County, K. She attended Sunday School at Anthony Sunday School and church at the First Christian Church in Beaver, OK.

Judith was proud to attend school in Turpin, OK where she graduated in 1961. Judith was an active member of her church, 4-H, cheerleading, sports, and Rainbow Girls. Judith attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK and received her degree in Business Education in 1965.

Judith married Donald Lee Depew on Aug. 22, 1964 at the First Christian Church in Beaver. To their marriage they added two children, Daren Lee Depew (1967) and Stacey Gayle Tanner (1970).

In the early years of their marriage, Judith was a stay at home wife and mom while Donald worked for Conoco. They eventually settled in Balko, OK where Donald began his teachingcareer . Judith began her teaching career at Turpin High School in 1974 as a substitute teacher for business and continued teaching business at Turpin High School for 26 years. In 1976 Judith and Donald moved to the family farm located in the Anthony community.

Judith was an amazing teacher and taught all subjects in the business department. Many of her students were able to build careers in business based off of the knowledge gained in her classroom. She also served as the yearbook advisor, pep club sponsor, cheer sponsor, and class sponsor. She was actively involved in OEA while teaching and led the retired teachers of Beaver County during her retirement. After the passing of Donald in 2009, Judith married Burl Brown in 2014.

Judith continued her faithful service to her church, The First Christian Church in Beaver through serving as deaconess, teaching Sunday School, teaching Vacation Bible School and Wednesday night kids clubs, playing the piano and playing in the bell choir. She was also active in the Anthony home demonstration club and supported her children in the Balko 4-H and FFA clubs as well as all of their activities. Judith also enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in all of their activities that included various sports, rodeos, dance, choir, band, theater, art, and 4-H and FFA cattle and goat projects.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents Leon Blum and Winifred Colean Morris, her husband Donald Lee Depew, and Burl Brown.

Judith is survived by her children, Daren and Jackie Depew (Beaver, OK), Stacey and Sid Tanner (Perryton); her grandchildren Randa Depew (Beaver), Carson Depew (Tulsa, OK), Isaiah Tanner and Chloe Tanner (Perryton,), Shelby (Hansen) and Drew Jameson (Edmond, OK), Rance and Baylee Hansen (Syracuse, NY), Tatum (Hansen) and Ryan Radcliff (Forgan, OK); her great-grandchildren Jay, Jhett, and June Radcliff (Forgan, OK) and Myles Jameson (Edmond, OK). She is also survived by her brother John (Jack) Morris, her sisters-in-law Ruby and Glen Woodruff and Diane Depew. Judith also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
