Melton Charles Haberthur

Melton Charles Haberthur, known by most as “Mel”, 60, of Perryton passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022.

A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, 10 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Wes Stevens and Dave Jones officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.

Mel was born Dec.10, 1961 in Perryton to Ellis Preston (EP) and Alma Joy (Lee) Haberthur. He married Karri Ramsey on Valentine’s Day of 1980 in Perryton. He had a passion for hunting deer and elk.

He was an exceptional cook, making sausage and jerky out of the deer and elk he hunted. He loved to make people laugh by giving them a hard time. His sons were the highlight of his life until his grandchildren came along. They were the absolute joys of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karri, of the home; sons, Coby and D’Aun Haberthur of Dumas, Dustin and Kendra Haberthur of Perryton, and Chance and Ashley Haberthur of Perryton; nine grandchildren, Preston, Mackinna, Kamdyn, Rylee and Rhett all of Dumas, and Carson, Macee, Charlee and Haven all of Perryton; brothers, Joe and Nancy Haberthur of Battleground, WA, and Mike and Patti Haberthur of Perryton; sisters, Linda and Neil Allen, Wanda and Dave Jones and Barbara Strawn all of Oklahoma City, OK; and lots of nieces and nephews.

Mel is preceded in death by his parents, EP and Joy Haberthur.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made in his name to the charity of your liking.
