John Winston Perkins, 79, died on Tuesday Sept. 7, 2021 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, KS.
He was born on September 9, 1941 at Leon, OK the son of Roy J. and Agnes M. (Brueggemeyer) Perkins. He married Norma L. Weinett on June 18, 1961 at Booker.
John graduated high school at Darrouzett, and attended Business School in Amarillo. He moved to Garden City in 1974 and was the Vice-President and Supervisor for the Presto Convenience Stores in Southwest Kansas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Holcomb. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Perkins; daughter, Kambra and Ron Becker of Holcomb; son, Lance and Amy Perkins of Garden City; seven grandchildren, Lindsey Leiker of Holcomb, Megan Blake of Garden City, C.J. Perkins of Garden City, Darroch Perkins of Dighton, Sean Jones of Severance, CO, Matthew Jones of Dighton and Jaden Coleman of Dighton; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jayrene Coleman; two brothers, Harold Perkins and James Perkins; and one sister, Sue Jines.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sep. 11, at First Baptist Church in Holcomb with Rev Jon Sanders officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Arrangements are under the direction of Garnand Funeral Home. Memorials are sug
